The eagle has landed

There have been 2 bald eagles living near our neighborhood since we moved in and every so often they will come and perch high in the trees for all of us to admire. Last weekend, however, we spotted one of the eagles sitting on the ground on the bank of the retention pond behind our house. The eagle sat there for a while, but then made his way up into the trees before heading out to find someone else to impress. The bird was so massive and beautiful. I imagine it has a wingspan of between 7 and 8 feet. Wow, is all I can say.
